Neymar's Move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia Confirmed Following PSG Agreement

Brazilian star Neymar is on his way to a new adventure in Saudi Arabia, as he prepares to join Al Hilal, a prominent Pro League team.

The agreement between Al Hilal and Paris St Germain (PSG) for a two-year deal has been confirmed by Saudi state media.

Although no official response has come from the Ligue 1 champions, which is under the ownership of Qatar Sports Investments, insiders have suggested that the transfer could bring a substantial sum of 160 million euros ($175 million) to the 31-year-old Neymar.

The deal is believed to encompass a base transfer fee of around 90 million euros, with additional bonuses factored in, contingent on successful medical evaluations.

Sources closely linked to the matter have disclosed to Reuters that Neymar has been undergoing a comprehensive medical assessment in Paris on Monday.

He is anticipated to make his way to Riyadh by Wednesday, where he will be introduced to enthusiastic supporters at the revered King Fahd Stadium.

The Brazilian sensation is poised to don the coveted number 10 jersey for Al Hilal under the guidance of Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.

Neymar's journey to Al Hilal marks a significant shift from his tenure at PSG, where he was acquired in a record-breaking transfer of 222 million euros ($243 million) from Barcelona in 2017.

With an impressive tally of 118 goals in 173 appearances for PSG, Neymar's contributions have played a pivotal role in securing numerous accolades, including five Ligue 1 championships.

However, he has recently seen a diminished role in coach Luis Enrique's strategic plans.

While Neymar had expressed interest in returning to Barcelona on a loan arrangement, financial constraints within the Spanish club rendered this aspiration untenable.

Al Hilal's pursuit of star talent also included efforts to secure France's Kylian Mbappe, who recently retook his place in PSG's main lineup.

The Saudi outfit had also reportedly explored the prospect of recruiting Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, who ultimately made the decision to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Al Hilal, with a distinguished record of 66 trophies, holds a significant standing as the most successful club in both Saudi Arabia and Asia. The club boasts a remarkable collection of league and Asian Champions League titles, having clinched 18 and four of them respectively.

The club's recent endeavors reflect its commitment to bolstering its squad strength.

This focus aligns with the Saudi Public Investment Fund's ambitious investment and privatization initiative for various sports clubs.

The esteemed Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Hilal are all part of this project.

The Saudi Pro League season commenced with remarkable fanfare after substantial investments exceeding half a billion dollars attracted a cohort of esteemed players and coaches from renowned European clubs.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr, and Karim Benzema, signed by Al Ittihad from Real Madrid, have already made their mark.

Additionally, Al Ahli has secured the services of Champions League victors Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, and Roberto Firmino, underscoring the league's emergence as a prominent destination for international football talent.
